Bolivian authorities have arrested a former government minister who is under investigation for alleged corruption as part of a judicial process aimed at uncovering possible irregularities that occurred during his time in office.

The arrest was carried out by police officers following a court order issued by Bolivia’s judicial authorities. The former official has been placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, who will continue legal proceedings to determine his judicial status as the investigation moves forward.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the case involves alleged irregularities in the management of public funds and government contracts. Investigators are seeking to determine whether any criminal offenses were committed in connection with the handling of public resources or the awarding of contracts for goods and services during his tenure.

Authorities in Bolivia have included the case within a wider set of probes targeting former officials from earlier administrations, and prosecutors indicate that the investigations aim to determine each person’s liability by evaluating the evidence gathered throughout the process.

The former minister’s defense team has rejected the accusations, stating that their client intends to cooperate with the judicial proceedings while fully upholding his right to due process. At the same time, authorities indicated that the inquiry will move forward as further evidence is collected before the courts issue a final ruling on the matter.
