A court has issued a ruling against the public broadcaster TVE and its program ‘Mañaneros’, determining that inaccurate information was broadcast regarding the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The judgment concludes that the content aired did not meet the standards of accuracy required in news reporting.

The case also includes journalist Javier Ruiz, linked to the program, as the court determined he contributed to spreading the contested claims. The ruling states that the assertions made during the broadcast lacked adequate verification, thereby infringing Ayuso’s right to honor.

The case originates from comments aired on the morning show, where matters concerning Ayuso’s political leadership were examined. The court concluded that these remarks were not backed by adequate factual evidence, leading the regional leader to pursue legal action.

As a result of the ruling, TVE will be required to comply with measures aimed at addressing the harm caused. The case highlights once again the importance of rigorous fact-checking in journalism, particularly when reporting on public figures.
